The First Five Years
Because the first five years of a child's life set the foundation for future success, the Neighborhood Families program serves as an integral resource for healthy family development, especially in our urban core. A partnership of the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City and the Missouri Children's Trust Fund is supporting Front Porch Alliance in this important initiative.
This strengths-based home-visiting program builds on each family's capacity for health, wellness and education by developing a network of community resources, social and educational supports. Certified parent educators conduct the visits to teach, mentor and provide vision and hearing screenings. Playgroups are another aspect of the program that gives families opportunities for socialization and peer support.
The program is free and voluntary open to families prenatally to children age five who live east of Troost in the Kansas City, MO School District.
